Element K Targets Hiring Pool, Boosts Exposure with RochesterWorks!

Element K LLC - a Rochester-based e-learning company with over 700 employees worldwide - started sending its job postings to RochesterWorks! several months ago.

"It helps us to have our postings hit a very specific group of people. The people that RochesterWorks! networks with are typically people who are motivated to work and ready to enter into the workplace," says Jody Stolt, Manager, Employment at Element K.

"We approached them from the hiring they do across the board," says Erin VanDamme, Business Services Representative at RochesterWorks! Element K hires clerical, information technology, engineering, software developing and light manufacturing positions.

Element K works with Fortune 500 companies around the world in planning, launching and managing their learning programs. Element K's library of 2,300 e-learning courses has everything from soft skills on how to manage and motivate employees to taking a certification course. It also has 1,300 print course work titles.

RochesterWorks! is able to post job listings in the U.S. Department of Labor's Job Bank . It gives the listings more exposure and enables RochesterWorks! to control the flow of matching and referring job seeker candidates, VanDamme says.

Since Element K and RochesterWorks started working together there has been at least one hire and a bunch of interviews, VanDamme says.

"(In addition) the partnership has brought the name of Element K and what our company does in front of a lot of people in the Rochester area that we may not have been touching before," Stolt says.

Element K was named RochesterWorks! March Employer of the Month , where the company is spotlighted for what it does locally.

Plus in March, Stolt spoke at one of RochesterWorks! Unemployed Resources Network group meetings . She discussed employment trends and the reality of today's job market and covered "what makes you employable"? and "what is the real process for finding a job". She also discussed Element K's recruitment process and opened the session up for questions. Close to 50 people attended the event.

The bi-weekly URN meetings are designed to give job seekers what employers are looking, staffing requirements and the process of getting in as an employee. "The URN meetings reach across a broad spectrum of job seekers that come and see us," VanDamme says.
