Heritage Packaging Investing in Employee Training to Expand into New Markets

While some other companies are cutting back on providing training for their employees, Bill and Kris Smith, President and Vice President of Heritage Packaging are investing in theirs.

Heritage Packaing produces bags, pouche covers, liners and a number of custom products.

In an effort to expand into new markets it has been preparing its workforce to remain competitive by increasing skills and expertise and purchasing a state-of-the-art automated pouche machine.

“This will allow us to produce a wider range of products in an industry recognized process” says Ray Strobel, Operations Manager for Heritage Packaging. “We are pleased with the opportunity that RochesterWorks! provides for us to train our employees with the Wired grant.”

Heritage has been awarded over $9,000 in matching funds to train employees.  The company has received two training grants, one for process improvement and software applications and another more recent to work on the new automated pouche machine.

Heritage Packaging provides a wide variety of practical, cost effective solutions for demanding packaging requirements. Products are designed and fabricated to provide protection from multiple hazards such as corrosion, temperature extremes and electro-static discharge. Package sizes and applications range from small barrier pouches for bearings, to cargo plane preservation covers.

Heritage Packaging specializes in the fabrication of application specific protective packaging systems. The vast majority of business deals with barrier packaging and barrier packaging materials. Barrier packaging materials are used to keep desirable elements in, and or un-desirable elements out of a package. These materials are used for applications such as keeping food fresh, corrosion prevention, extending shelf life, and providing long term preservation for sensitive products and machinery. Advances in the laminating and co-extrusion processes have helped flexible materials meet nearly every preservation packaging requirement.
