The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Training Program at Thompson Health is set up for candidates who are interested in becoming and then working as a CNA in the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center (CCC). Individuals are hired in to a CNA position, which will most likely be part time, for a specific avenue and attend a five week training course. The course is full-time, primarily Mon-Fri, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and it is fully paid by Thompson Health. Individuals also receive wages while taking the class. Following the program, participants will be scheduled to take the NYS CNA Examination. Once the examination has been completed, the participants go through another 3 week clinical orientation, with a preceptor on the avenue they were hired for. It is required that CNA Training Class participants remain employed in the CCC in a full or part time status for at least one year from certification.
