#6 Be flexible and realistic, especially when it comes to salary

Don’t get caught up on things like salary.  Many job seekers we meet have been laid off from high paying jobs and are frustrated by job offers with a lower salary.  Others have pursued training for a career change and find entry level wages in these jobs are lower than expected.

Chances are, in this type of job market, your next job will come at a lower wage, especially if you are changing careers or industries.  A short term sacrifice can lead to long term career pay-offs.  Take the job, even if it doesn’t meet your pay expectations, and keep looking for the next opportunity.  When you are employed you are much more desirable to employers than when you were unemployed.
