Software Engineer

Reports to : Team Leader

Classification : Exempt

Summary: The Software Engineer at IMSWorkX is primarily responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of IMSWorkX products. A software engineer will be responsible for working on and occasionally leading development projects. In addition, the software engineer will assist with the support of customers as required, and interact frequently with other teams such as documentation and sales.


  • Design, develop, manage, maintain and support IMSWorkX software products, including the Application server and telephony applications
  • Acquire an expert level understanding of telephony protocols such as SIP and AIN.
  • Correct defects or add enhancements to software based on a project plan
  • Assist in the development of engineering project plans
  • Provide notes and training to IMSWorkX teams working on user documentation, marketing, sales, quality control and other tasks related to IMSWorkX products
  • Interact with other teams at IMSWorkX to ensure that applications are delivered in a polished and professional manner in time with any marketing campaigns and customer notifications
  • Read and fully understand documentation and engineering specifications that are public, private and/or provided by customers
  • Report software defects as discovered
  • Develop and perform unit tests
  • Perform release management activities
  • Utilize ticketing software to track activities
  • Constantly learn and apply new skills and technologies

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience building large complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Ability to work in a team and as an individual
  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong proficiency with the following: Java, Python, C++, Web Development, PostgreSQL, Linux, IP Networking Protocols
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs

Optional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Telecommunications protocols; including SIP, SS7, Sigtran
  • Proficiency with Ansible, Jenkins, SVN, Boost
  • UI/Front-End experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit/Stand/Walk 8 hours/day
