Guest Speaker Series Provides Fresh Perspectives from Local Experts

True to its mission of providing outstanding education and training services, RochesterWorks! continues to increase the diversity and quantity of workshop offerings.
Our Guest Speaker Workshop Series is a vital piece providing fresh perspectives from local experts.
In July, RochesterWorks! included several guest speakers to our line-up of workshops.
- Beth Sears of Workplace Communications, presented “How to Stop People from Pushing Your Buttons” This workshop helps to gain an awareness of what happens to you when your buttons get pushed. Participants gain tools to help empower them in their relationships and learn to communicate more effectively.
- Mike Chabalik presents Financial Wellness for those who have been recently downsized or fear it is coming. This workshop will educate job seekers on how to best plan for their future. The discussion includes key issues affecting dislocated workers. Advice will be given for those recently separated from their employer on:
- How to evaluate investments and financial goals
- Which elements of job search might be tax deductable
- Dr. Rita Carey returned this month to present her “50+ Workshops: a five part series that is designed to address the specific challenges faced by the advanced job seeker in today’s labor market.
- Greg Taylor shared valuable information about the social media tool, LinkedIn.
August provides more opportunities for members to gain information on “hot topics.”
- Dr Rita Carey will again present her popular 50+ series to help identify actions necessary to meet the challenges of addressing age barriers that may exist.
- Greg Taylor will again offer LinkedIn 100 for those just getting started with this tool. In addition, Greg will offer LinkedIn for Job Seekers to provide some specific ways for job seekers to use this social media more effectively.
