Purpose

Organizations can use the system to train employees in various skill areas including: Desktop Applications, Information Technology, Business, and Healthcare.
Why e-Learning?
It’s flexible – courses are accessed through the internet and can match employees’ skill level and self-paced learning. It’s low cost – no tuition or travel costs, and the courses are up-to-date and comprehensive.
Background
The RochesterWorks! system was created as a result of the Workforce Investment Act, and supports economic growth by providing employment, education, support and training services in Monroe County. Most of the services provided through RochesterWorks! are funded by the Workforce Investment Act. The system is governed by the Workforce Investment Board, which oversees over $10 million dollars in employment and training resources. Federally funded services to businesses include recruitment assistance as well as training.
Expected Outcomes
Companies can provide e-Learning to employees, which will result in the acquisition of transferable skills or certificates, thereby enhancing their long-term employability, career growth and earnings potential. Companies interested in this training need to complete an application process, and will be responsible for: identifying skill deficits of each trainee, providing a list of names of each employee participating in the training, distributing participant forms to each trainee for them to complete prior to receiving an account, and managing the progression of the employee training plans. Each employee’s training plan must be completed within 90 days of receiving the e-Learning account.
Course Selection Process
RochesterWorks will act as the “Training Administrator,” selecting a maximum of 4 online courses for each individual. It is important that the questions on the application are thoroughly addressed in order for RochesterWorks to select the appropriate courses for each employee.
