Business Opportunities in Challenging Times

A Message from RochesterWorks! Executive Director
Peter C. Pecor

Let RochesterWorks! be your business partner, assisting you with your recruitment needs, developing training opportunities and accessing resources to enhance your employee’s skill levels and efficiencies.

  • Develop and create new business practices and improvements that will enhance your customer service, strengthen your sales base and customer loyalty.  Spend more time with your core customers who will in turn develop a stronger referral network on your behalf.  It is much better to have a warm prospect than to spin your wheels cold calling in the same manner as your competitors.
  • Create a strategy that will give you a competitive advantage as the economy improves. Provide your employees with options to learn new skills, develop new practices and create new and innovative processes and products that will encourage and support growth.
  • Recruit, as opposed to downsizing, talent that in more robust times may not be available to your organization. The skill, experience and education level of the talent pool is at record levels and these new hires could bring to your business ideas for streamlining, growth and improved practices that would not have been available during normal economic times.
  • Collaborate and partner with industry organizations or clusters with a common goal to become more competitive and efficient in this expanded marketplace. The tendency is to limit participation in trade or industry organizations during slower times due to the economics, however the reverse is true. During these periods efficiencies and innovations are created to capitalize on the collective industry intelligence that consortiums can bring together to address products, services, markets and human resource needs.
