With unemployment on the rise, RochesterWorks! has been increasing the diversity and quantity of workshop offerings.  
 
The Guest Speaker Workshop Series began two years ago to address the needs of job seekers by providing fresh perspectives from local experts.
 
This April, RochesterWorks! is bringing four new guest speakers to our line-up of workshops.

• Beth Sears of Workplace Communications, presented “Adapting to Change” to a crowded room of RochesterWorks! members.  
• Also presenting this month are Ivy Hoffman who will present “Understanding Yourself”, and Carol McManus and Dolly Malik of M&M Intervention Specialists who will discuss financial strategies for job seekers.
• Returning Guest Speakers this month are Anne Marie Walker who presents her signature workshop called “Bragging Rights” and Dr. Rita Carey will present “50+ Career Search:  Debunking the Myths”.
• The increasing number of mid-level job seekers has regularly drawn a large crowd in Dr. Carey’s seminar, “50+ Career Search.”  Dr. Carey has developed a teleconference version of her valuable information.  Using telephone service, Dr. Carey is able to provide her seminars to greater numbers of people, not only easing the traffic flow to the Downtown Career Center, but also saving the job seekers from having to travel into our location.  
   
  Dr. Carey’s teleconference is a four-part series and covers everything from resumes to networking. Dr. Carey provides email reference materials prior to the event and the job seekers simply call in from their telephones for a 90 minute interactive session.  Dr. Carey reports that 75% of the attendees would “absolutely recommend the teleconference.” RochesterWorks! is happy to have the opportunity to partner with Dr. Carey on this innovative initiative to assist job seekers in alternative ways.
