Building Relationships for School Success Training based on Ruby Payne's A Framework for Understanding Poverty   September 26, 2008 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM to be held Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES The NYS Student Support Services Center, in collaboration with the Regional Student Support Services Centers, is offering a one-day professional development opportunity, Building Relationships for School Success based on the work of Ruby Payne, PhD.   Instant messaging may be important, but our need to connect with each other does not decline. In fact it becomes even more important as school communities serve increasingly diverse students and their families. It is vital to decisions, actions and assessments made by the school community to improve and sustain student academic success. To that end, building relationships with students and their families is key to their meaningful involvement, and to improving school connectedness, engagement, motivation and commitment to learning.    View the flyer for registration information.

City At Peace Sponsored by ArtPeace, Inc.   City at Peace is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that empowers teenagers to create safe, healthy, peaceful lives and communities. Using the performing arts as a vehicle, City at Peace is developing the next generation of engaged community leaders.   City At Peace will begin recruiting youth participants for its inaugural program year this summer.  View the flier for more info.
