A few years ago, I had to stop working and began receiving social security disability due to a medical condition. Fast forward a few years from that and I was well enough to contemplate returning to work. My life and the world had changed a lot between then.

The Ticket To Work Program was something I wanted to be involved with, to help me regain employment, while balancing a new chapter of my life in a new world of work. I wanted to begin working toward a new career path that was safe and conducive to growth.

RochesterWorks helped me identify specific goals and potential employment opportunities that fit into these goals. I attended job fairs and learned how to navigate websites to identify potential employment opportunities. I received high quality and detailed assistance in writing a strong resume that I felt confident to handing to potential employers. I developed interviewing and communication skills that assisted me in adapting to professional environments. I completed the 5 Steps to Rapid Employment Program that helped feel more comfortable and confident approaching job hunting and career exploration, while also meeting other job seekers and discussing our issues in a group setting that was supportive.

My RochesterWorks career advisor did an excellent job with her wealth of knowledge of employment environments around Rochester. She helped me develop a strong resume and interviewing skills which helped me go into interviews, and eventually begin my new job, with confidence and a skillset to be successful. She was very welcoming and responsive to any question or concern I had regarding any issue I had during my employment journey.

I completed the 5 Steps to Rapid Employment Program, and shortly after that, I began filling out job applications, had job interviews, and began my new job in just a few months.  I feel confident in my current role at work, and confident in seeking out any career growth opportunities in the future.
