About RETI

This is a clean energy-focused training initiative designed to help employers fuel the growing demands of the clean energy economy and related industry sectors. With RETI, employers can meet the growing demands for workers with clean energy skill sets while receiving resources and support for their businesses in the process. This program is exclusively offered by RochesterWorks!

Information & Resources

Who is RETI For

The RETI Training Initiative is for clean energy employers who wish to:

  • Bridge the gap between employer needs and workforce capabilities.
  • Build skills sets of job seekers and incumbent workers for clean energy careers.
  • Prioritize building weatherization, retrofitting, and high efficiency building performance.
Resources for Clean Energy Employers

On-the-Job Training (OJT) Grants

  • Offset up to $7,500 in costs associated with hiring and training new employees by reimbursing a portion of wages during the training period.
  • Support for businesses investing time and resources to develop workers with specialized skill sets in clean energy related roles.
  • Sample Eligible Job Titles: HVAC Technician, Electrician, Construction Laborer, Manufacturing Technician, Solar Panel Installer, Clean Energy Sales Consultant, and more.

 

Customized Training Grants

  • Address skills gaps with funding for tailored training programs for current employees.
  • Cover up to $10,000 in costs for industry-recognized credentials or certifications in clean energy related fields.
  • Sample Eligible Trainings: LEED Green Associate, BPI certifications, including Crew Leader and Energy Auditor, Project Management Professional (PMP) or Blueprint Reading for energy projects, and more.

 

Recruiting Support Services

  • Access motivated job seekers with a passion for clean energy through free job posting services, recruitment events, and more.

Applications for the RETI Training Initiative will be accepted on a continuous basis until funding is exhausted. Selection will depend on available funding and successful completion of the application process.

Please note: Please allow a minimum of seven business days for paperwork processing and completion. Individuals cannot start work until your business has been notified of and approved for RETI Training Initiative participation.

This Work Experience Tryout (WET) program allows your business to try out candidates to see if their skills and work habits are a fit for an open position.

The Incumbent Worker Training Grant (IWT) program is designed to help businesses in the City of Rochester and Monroe County upskill their existing employees to meet industry demand by offsetting the cost of providing training and certification.
