Lexi

Lexi, a young mother with a passion for healthcare, connected with RochesterWorks to pursue her career goals. With dreams of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and gaining experience as a Patient Care Technician, Lexi faced challenges on her path to achieving her goals–including lacking marketable skills and needing support with childcare and transportation.

RochesterWorks helped Lexi develop a comprehensive action plan. She was provided with job readiness training to enhance her resume and interview skills, connected with Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training at Monroe Community College, and provided funding for her Driver’s Education Program. With her learner’s permit in hand, a customized course helped her gain the skills needed to pass her road test.

Lexi also received financial support for scrubs, fingerprinting fees, and her CNA exam. Through RochesterWorks, Lexi secured a CNA certification and began working as a nurse at a local hospital. Her success inspired her to refer friends and colleagues, many of whom RochesterWorks has also supported.

Lexi’s story is a testament to the power of tailored career support, enabling her to overcome barriers and build a brighter future for herself and her family.
